What is a virtual assistant?

A virtual Assistant (“VA”) is usually self-employed and helps businesses with a variety of tasks from diary/email management to creating social media content. Many VA’s will specialise in certain areas such as transcription or credit control. You may get a techy VA or even a VA that specialises in minute taking.

VA’s are highly skilled and as they themselves are business owners, who better to work with than someone who owns a successful business. Even though there are different types of VA’s they all have one thing in common, they want to help you by saving you time so you can focus on the part of your business that actually needs you. Imagine having extra hours every week so you can focus ON your business rather than IN your business.

VA’s are very flexible and you can use them for an hour to 40 + hours a month.

Virtual Assistants are becoming increasingly popular due to the technology that is now available. You don’t have to have an assistant ‘in the room anymore’ when they can do all the work for you remotely and often in a more cost-effective way.

Benefits of working with a VA

1) SAVES YOU MONEY – Instead of hiring a full-time or even part-time employee you can use a VA for as little as 5 hours per week. As VA’s are highly skilled those 5 hours will be used very efficiently, more so than having an actual employed member of staff. You also don’t have to fork out for holiday or sick pay and there are no pension contributions or employee benefits to think about.

2)  SAVES YOU TIME – Imagine having an extra pair of hands to do the things that you don’t like doing or don’t have the time to do. A VA can free up precious time for you by taking on your never-ending to-do-list or your social media platforms. As VA’s are highly skilled and experts in their field, they will take considerably less time to do tasks than if you do. Your expertise will be on running your business rather than stuck in all the admin.

3) LESS HASSLE – By working with a VA you don’t need to train them, you don’t need to find the office space and you don’t need to oversee all their work. They often will work from home and have all the equipment they need. VA’s are very competent and because they are business owners they understand what it takes to run a business. As your relationship grows you will be able to completely rely on them, they will be your right-hand woman or man!

4)  PARTNERSHIP – A VA can whip you into shape, streamline your systems and recommend better processes. They can be your support system when things get too much or you have lost your passion for the business. A good VA will listen and help solve your problems, often VA’s have vast experience in businesses can be your support system and the go-to person.

Don’t underestimate the power of how a VA can revolutionise your business and be an incredible asset. A VA is a good investment, they will let you get out and grow your business, let you do the parts of the business you love and ultimately help you achieve your goals.
